Due to increasing workload, our client in Birmingham is recruiting a Structural Associate Director to help maintain our delivery of an excellent service to our Clients & enhance our reputation as one of the leading structural engineering businesses in the country.

Responsibilities for this role will include;
- Liaising with clients to agree feasibility study briefs, managing their expectations and developing the project brief.
- Ensuring that the project is delivered as agreed and regularly review overall delivery.
- Lead the design process and encourage the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions to the agreed programme; support those more inexperienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
- Act from time to time as project director, working with project team at a senior level.
- Manage client relationship, ensuring the client is well informed about project progress and solicit and act on feedback from the client to enhance the service they receive.
- Identify and exploit opportunities to win business, and referrals from existing and new clients, including generating and following up leads from project teams, and monitoring the quality of work to maximise repeat orders.
- Manage fees and negotiate any changes with the client where appropriate.
- Take a lead in supporting the team as and when required.

You will have a B Eng or MEng degree in relevant engineering discipline as a minimum standard. Achieved chartered status together with proven experience commensurate with the responsibilities of this position.

Demonstrated ability to lead completion of conceptual design, feasibility studies, design specifications, detailed engineering design, calculations, project budget costing, site supervision and liaison work and job tender for a wide variety of projects.

Experience of managing large projects as the lead engineer is essential. Experience of winning work, people leadership and commercial management are essential, ideally supplemented by a particular technical specialism or sector focus. Good knowledge and ability to use desktop IT packages.
