Our client is a brewery that have invested heavily in renewable energy at two of their UK sites in Yorkshire and the North West of England. They are currently looking to recruit an Operations Manager to manage all aspects of the operation of the biomass and biogas plants with the aim of maximising the return on the 35m capital investment.

Key responsibilities:
To develop and implement the key operational parameters for the two biomass plants
To ensure the company are able to access the maximum grant funding for renewable energy
To ensure that the biomass and biogas plants are operated and maintained to the highest possible levels
To manage all budgets associated with the biomass & biogas operation:
Fuel circa 5m pa
Maintenance - circa 1m pa
Operating costs - circa 1m pa
To look for alternative fuel sources that would help reduce fuel spend
To maximise the carbon credits and renewable obligation certificates that the business can then sell on
Ensure biomass operation does not adversely effect site operations
Optimise fuel sourcing / blending
Compliance with statutory engineering and environmental legislation
Maximise and optimise benefits of thermal and electricity generation in line with market forces
Number of direct reports is likely to be 4 - 8

Applicants should hold a relevant Degree qualification, and have significant operational experience in the biomass or power fields, including contract management and negotiation. Candidates will be considered on either a permanent or a contract basis depending on preference.
