Due to an increasing workload, our client is looking to appoint a Principal Hydrogeologist to join their Natural and Built Environment teams either in Edniburgh, Wakefield or Belfast. You will use your previous experience and knowledge of current UK best practice to primarily support their expanding portfolio of UK clients. Support to international projects may be required from time to time. You will also be required to undertake business development activites and will be expected to identify and win new work. You will also mentor and supervise less experienced members of the team and provide them with support and guidance as necessary in order to aid their career development.

To be successful in this role you will be degree qualified and preferably have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Hydrogeology. You will have extensive knowledge of groundwater resource planning, investigation and the implementation of groundwater source development. Previous experience in projects relating to land quality and groundwater risk would be beneficial.

You will need a sound understanding of major groundwater infrastructure and development projects and will have worked in consultation with statutory and non-statutory bodies. It is essential that you have the ability to develop detailed conceptual understanding of complex hydrogeological situations and experience of providing outputs that support groundwater development options review and design.

In addition to the required technical skills, you should have the ability to work well within a team environment, have a strong client service focus and excellent organisational skills. You must be able to demonstrate good people management skills in order to develop team members effectively. You will be computer literate and be able to demonstrate a track record in the preparation of high quality oral and written communications including the preparation of consulting proposals and estimates.
